Fitz finds out about Mellie's affair with Andrew, and Adnan and Maya break into Pope & Associates in Scandal's "Mama Said Knock You Out."
In a Scandal first, the audience met President Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) two oldest children, Karen (Madeline Carroll) and Jerry (Dylan Minnette), who are high school students. The kids are less than thrilled at the idea of having to sit through a family dinner, let alone a live on-air interview with the First Family. During their pre-interview prep with Liv (Kerry Washington), Jerry is silent and seems a little too interested in just how live the interview is (no time delays). Liv calls in Pope & Associates and tells them to drop everything for the next 24 hours: they’re looking into Jerry and Karen.

It’s incredibly easy to forget a prominent member of a television drama has fictional children, especially when they’ve never been introduced on screen. But for a series like Scandal that is so tightly written, things are rarely mentioned without having some kind of significance. When it came to the children of Fitz and Mellie, it was only a matter of time before they were finally given an on screen presence. In fact, it was teased that the casting process had already begun to find the right young actors to play Jerry and Karen. As of right now, the search has come to an end; both roles have been filled. Strangely enough, the two actors have appeared on a few of the same series, though this will be the first time they’ll be featured together.

A week after learning that "Scandal" was on the hunt for the Grant kids, the roles have been filled.
TVLine reports that Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie's (Bellamy Young) children, Jerry and Karen, will be brought to life by Dylan Minnette andMadeline Carroll.
Both actors have a history with ABC. Minnette recently appeared in an episode of "Agents of Shield" and recurred as Jack Shephard's son on "Lost." He also played Jason Isaacs' son on the short-lived NBC drama "Awake."
Carroll has guest-starred on "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes' other series "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice," as well as also turning in a guest spot on an episode of "Lost."
"Scandal" resumes Season 3 on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt on ABC with the 11th episode of 18. The Grant brood will make their debut in Episode 15.
