Minecraft在没有官方中文名的情况下诞生了许多非官方名字：我的世界，麦块，我的手艺，在使用繁体字的地区多半叫：当个创世神。
贴吧中大多数玩家还是一个小白时，就是叫这款游戏“我的世界”，玩了一段时间，就不再这么叫了，而是简称MC，有些过激份子甚至看不起称它“我的世界”的家伙，引起不必要的争吵。
我的世界，是这样翻译的——mine被理解为“我的”，而craft一般没法翻译成世界，后面那个世界是可能翻译者根据游戏内容填上的，虽说前面那个mine不符合语法，但是，那些鬼佬也不是总是规矩地用正确语法，甚至有人直接用U取代you。
麦块，就是直接音译，无懈可击。我的手艺符合了mine和craft的翻译，不过仍然有语法问题。当个创世神则是完全根据游戏内容来翻译的。

然而的然而，mine还有一个意思——开采，这个意思，正是应了我们在MC中最经常做的事！挖矿！craft正是游戏里略次经常要做的事情！合成！
