[English only]Here are five points I summerised:

1. There's not much difference in grammar between Chinese and English. English just follows the same rules as Chinese does, for instance: adjectives modify nouns, adverbs modify verbs and so on. And English is quite forgivable with word order. The main difference between the two languages is that English uses tenses while Chinese doesn't.
2. Totally unlike Chinese, English is made up of letters instead of characters. There are a bunch of prefixes and suffixes for us to learn, too.
3. Some words can be really confusing.
For instance, "set" which has a meaning of "place", has a meaning of "adjust" too.
4. There are many idioms and phrases for us to learn.
5. English borrows so many words from other languages. French is the one from which English borrows the most words.
I know little about English gammars but I hope I made no silly grammatical mistakes!

I suppose I can understand all you said and the points. This means your writing is successful. I can enjoy your ideas even I don't want to say I agree or don't agree.

                  支持一下楼主。别的语言我不了解,但汉英两种语言,确实共性大于差异。后面总结的几个英语学习要点也深有同感。

                    提到一种语言中令非母语者困惑的词义,其实汉语中应该也不少,比如说“打粮”“打饭”“打菜”“打水”“打酱油”这些短语中动词为什么会用“打”。
