This is the story of a man named Stanley.Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee 427. Employee427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in room 427 and he pushed buttons on akeyboard. Orders came to him through a monitor on his desk, telling him whatbuttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is whatEmployee 427 did every day of every month of every year, and although othersmight have considered it soul rending, Stanley relished every moment that theorders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job. And Stanleywas happy.

And then one day, something very peculiar happened. Something that wouldforever change Stanley; something he would never quite forget. He had been athis desk for nearly an hour when he realized that not one single order hadarrived on the monitor for him to follow. No one had shown up to give himinstructions, call a meeting, or even say ‘hi’. Never in all his years at thecompany had this happened, this complete isolation. Something was very clearlywrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found himself unable to move for thelongest time. But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, he got upfrom his desk and stepped out of his office.

Stanley stood for a long time in one spot. it's part of a game.He likes to see how long he can go without dying. So far, he's doing excellent, and if he just stays right where he is, I'm sure he'll keep up that goodmomentum. Let's observe the genius at work.

But Stanley simply couldn't handle the pressure. What if he had to make adecision? What if a crucial outcome fell under his responsibility? He had neverbeen trained for that! No, this couldn't go anyway except badly. The thing todo now, Stanley thought to himself, is to wait. Nothing will hurt me. Nothingwill break me. In here, I can be happy, forever. I will be happy. Stanleywaited. Hours passed. Then days. Had years gone by? He no longer had theability to tell. But the one thing he knew, for sure, beyond any doubt, wasthat if he waited long enough, the answers would come. Eventually, some day, theywould arrive. Soon, very soon now, this will end. He will be spoken too. He willbe told what to do. Now it's just a little bit closer. Now it's even closer. Here it comes...

                8. Someone was following Stanley, he was sure of it. If he check it over hisshoulder now, he would surely catch them. It was only a matter of time.

No matter how hard Stanley looked, he couldn't find a trace of his co-workers.
Stanley went around touching every little thing in the office, but it didn'tmake a single difference, nor did it advance the story in any way.
Stanley clicked on literally every single door in the office, because hedoesn't pick up well on cues from his environment.

Oh, and uh, I guess this is where Stanley felt he needed to be right now. In this little hallway. Here, with no distractions, to study room 417. Not to actually enter it, no no no no, that would be far too forward. Stanley wanted to know it from the outside - to see it not just with his eyes, but with his heart. He would know room 417 as no man or woman had ever known an office before. That ladder over there! *gasp* Oh,and that little picture of a horizon or something! It's all just a never ending parade of joy for Stanley.
                            Ah, no. Apparently not.

Well I don't know how to say this politelybut you could literally just hit escape and restart the game any old time youwant. Like right now! You could have done it just then! Now would also be anappropriate time to quit! Any of these points, and so many many more, all ofthem are appropriate! I'm enjoying what seems to be an internal conflict goingon where you are literally unable to act on your own desires to restart thegame, so just to push the envelope, I'm going to try to make this as miserableas possible and see how long you can maintain.
There once was a man named Stanley,
                              who people considered so manly,
but the truth must be told,
                              he was not very old,
                              and was quite particularly gangly.
What Stanley liked the most was buttons.
He pushed them like some kind of glutton.
                              He did it all day,
                              in a meaningful way,
but his brain had long ceased to function,
which is why he is in this parable,
and bears an existence quite terrible.
                              And if you're not strong,
                              and keep playing along,
you two will become quite unbearable.
                              YEEEESSSSS,
you two will become quite unbearable.
